2023 Election: IGP deploys 2 CPs to Kano

The Inspector General Police on Tuesday deployed two new Commissioners of Police and two Deputy Commissioners of Police to Kano for election duties.

CP Mamman Dauda, who had been in charge of the state police command, redeployed to Plateau State while CP Muhammad Yakubu has now been deployed to Kano Police Command.

Also,, it was gathered that CP Ita Uku-Udom has been deployed to man Kano Central Senatorial District, while two DCPs have been posted to Kano South Senatorial District and DCP Abaniwonda Olufemi to Kano North senatorial district.

The spokesman of Kano command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the redeployment said it affected many commands, not just Kano.

Kiyawa said details of the redeployment would soon be released.

The redeployment of Kano CP, Mamman Dauda to Plateau is coming just few days after the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) alleged that the CP has been in cahoots with the state government to frustrate the party in the election period.

The party had appealed to the IGP to redeploy But the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had said they had also raised similar issues that the CP was not going tough on “criminal elements” among NNPP supporters, a development the police spokesman said indicated that the command under CP Dauda was apolitical.
