2023: NGOs urge political parties to challenge outcome of elections in court, not violence

Coalition of non-governmental organization , Sir Ahamadu Youths Council of Nigeria, Arewa Youth Council and Arewa Youth Advocates For Good governance have urged political parties to follow due process of challenging the outcome of 2023 presidential and national assembly elections and not embark on violence.

The organizations made this call on Wednesday through their leaders, Bilal Tijjani Paki, Zayyad Ayuba Alhaji and Ibrahim Munir Kankara, at a news conference in Kano.

According to the organizations the outcome of the general elections reflected the true will of Nigerians and they also called on Nigerian youths to desist from being used by anybody or any political party to disturb the peace and unity of the country.

“The outcome of 2023 general election reflects the will of Nigerians, and we are calling on our youths that the outcome of this election should not be a reason of disunity and conflicts among ourselves. Nobody’s personal interest is beyond the unity and peaceful coexistence of our country.”

“Anybody or any political party that want to challenge the outcome of this election, there are legal ways to do that, but no politicians or political party will use our youths for their personal interest, we will not allow it and we will not agree,’’ the group said.

They added that the presidential and national assembly elections were the most free, fairest and credible election in the Nigerian history.

“We also appreciated the transparency of 2023 general election and call for patriotic acceptability of the process by all Nigerians.”
