$6.2m fraud: FG wants Interpol to investigate three Nigerians for ‘forging Buhari’s signature’

The federal government has called on the international criminal police organisation (Interpol) to place three suspects on its watchlist over an alleged fraud of $6,230,000.

The special investigator appointed by President Bola Tinubu to look into the case said the suspects are Adamu Abubakar, Imam Abubakar, and Odoh Eric Ocheme.

The trio allegedly forged the signature of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and documents purportedly written by Boss Mustapha, the former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), to induce the payment of $6,230,000 purportedly meant for foreign election observers from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The suspended governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele is also indicted in the alleged fraudulent payment, as Mustapha claimed on Tuesday that neither he nor ex-President Buhari gave any approval for the disbursement of the funds to international election observers.
