Court remands popular TikToker in Kano prison for ‘recruiting’ young girls into prostitution

Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a controversial TikToker, has been remanded in Kurmawa correctional facility in Kano by Shari’a Court in the Kwana Hudu area for her attempts to recruit young girls in the state into prostitution. 

Murja was arrested on Tuesday by the Kano State Hisbah Board after weeks of manhunt for her and five other Tiktokers in the State.

Aside from the attempts to recruit young girls into prostitution, she is accused of constituting herself into a public nuisance and indecency. 

Though Murja denied all charges against her, the Court ordered that she should be remanded until it reconvenes on February 27, 2024.

The development marks her second collision with the law and running battle with the Islamic Police Force in the State, otherwise known as Hisbah.
