Assalamu alaikum,
To my supporters and well-wishers
My dear political supporters in Kano State. This is to express my gratitude to all of you who openly and privately requested me to seek political office in the forthcoming 2023 elections in Kano State. I also appreciate all those who carried these campaigns to various radio stations in Kano, social media fora and to selected online media.
As a voter in every periodic election, I am already participating in the political process. What you are therefore asking me to do is to extend my participation to other aspects of the political process. This is consistent with the provision of section 40 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
The said section provides that every person shall be entitled to among others, belong to any political party, trade union or any other association for the protection of his interests. The section does not exclude anybody, be they businessmen, public or civil servant. It is the right of “EVERY PERSON”. The section did not also provide a ranking for participation in the political process. There is therefore no old and new or senior and junior member.
It is therefore a myth and contrary to the provision of the constitution to assume that preferential treatments should be given to certain members at the expense of others.
I would like to assure all of you, that I have accepted your call and will fully participate and even contest into an elective office. I will present myself for election as soon as INEC releases the time table. In the meantime, I implore all of you to please refrain from making provocative comments against any person or group of persons. Obscene language, inciting comments, smear campaigns, are very destructive to our progress and development as a people. I will never support any action that will debase our society, breach the law and result in a disastrous end.
You must understand that in a multi-party democracy such as ours, there must be opposition and we must accept that reality. Even within the same political party, there are differences of opinion. You have to imbibe the culture of tolerance.
Abuse or outrage will only aggravate frayed nerves. You can not impose your candidate on others. You can only sell your candidate by persuasion. You must respect the right of others to also sell their candidates.

Abuses and insults never win elections, in fact, they lead to rejection. You must see your participation in politics as a call to service. You must seek to build bridges and not walls, and aspire to narrow the differences between the elites and the grassroots.
You have a duty to our societal values founded on principles of respect of one another. You must be your brother’s keepers. You must be God-fearing and guided by religious injunctions. I have for long come to understand that patience is the greatest virtue for human beings. Therefore no amount of provocation in the political sphere will make me angry. Anger is the highest form of punishment one can give to himself. I have learned to accommodate other views. I have friends across party lines and even amongst those who expressed a desire to contest for the same office I am aspiring to.
I have experienced the worst form of provocation but remained calm. I have developed shock absorbers and thick skin to ensure that I overcome any provocation from any quarters. I remain focused and enjoin you to do the same.
I will be contacting you informally from time to time until the time INEC releases the time table for the political activities.
Finally, I pray for the success of the administration of our President, His Excellency, President Muhammad Buhari. I also pray for the success of the administration of His Excellency, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
