ACF National Publicity Secretary dies

The National Publicity Secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum ACF, Emmanuel Yawe has died aged 65.

One of his daughters, Talatu, confirmed the sad news of her father’s demise in Kaduna on Friday.

While confirming her father’s death, she said her father died in his sleep, on Thursday.

When asked if the news of her father’s death is true, she said, “Yes, it’s true. He didn’t wake up this morning.”

Also, the Secretary-General of the ACF, Murtala Aliyu, while confirming Yawe’s death, said the national chairman of the ACF had been intimated of Yawe’s death.

Aliyu said details of the burial arrangement for the ACF’s spokesman would be announced in due course.

The ACF’s scribe said, “It is with a heavy heart that I bring to your notice the passing away of our Publicity Secretary Chief Emmanuel Yawe this morning.

“I have intimated the Chairman Audu Ogbeh and he instructed that I should bring it to the notice of members.

“We will be visiting the family and will keep you informed about the burial arrangements. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”

He was, at various times, Member, Editorial Board of Advisers, The Point Newspaper; Editorial Board Member, People’s Daily Newspaper; Managing Editor, New Sentinel Newspaper; and Editor, Crystal International News Magazine.

The renowned journalist was also Managing Director of Gongola Press Ltd between 1988 – 1992, Director General, Governor’s Office, Gongola State between 1987 – 1988 and Editor, Sunday Triumph Newspapers 1984 – 1987.

He was also Chief Press Secretary, Governor’s Office, Gongola State 1983 – 1983 and Editorial Board Member, New Nigerian Newspaper 1982 – 1983

A graduate of Political Science from the University of Ibadan in 1979, Emmanuel YAWE was born in  Donga local government area of Taraba state on 21st October, 1956.
