Adhere to good oral hygiene practices- Kano Govt urges residents

Kano state commissioner of health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa has called on the general public to continuously adhere to good oral hygiene practices.

Dr Tsanyawa made the call in Kano, during a press briefing in commemoration of world oral health day 2021.

‘’Taking oral hygiene with much emphasis, would proactively help immensely towards averting health challenges which originate from unhygienic oral care, ‘’Dr. Tsanyawa.

He said that the mouth cavity is a gateway to almost bodily intakes such as foods, drinks and other consumables, which is likely high to be contracted with various oral disease, if untreated hygienically.

Tsanyawa added that as part of the activities marking the week-long event an outreach plan would be conducted in 5 Kano emirates in which 15,000 people, 3, 000 per emirate would be administered free dental health, including toothpaste and brush, dental floss and mouthwash as well as an intervention which also includes; scaling and polishing, fillings and restoration, partial denture and tooth extraction.

“Most oral health condition are largely preventable and treatable in early stages, he said.

The official theme of the 2021 campaign is “Be Proud of Your Mouth”.

World Oral Day is observed on the 20th of March of every year, dedicated to raising awareness on the importance of Oral Health.
