APC Crisis: Why we joined Sen. Shekarau’s faction-Ganduje’s aide, thousand supporters
The Special Adviser to Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on State Affairs, Mohammad Shehu has joined Senator Ibrahim Shekarau-led faction of the All Progressive Congress.
Shehu, former Vice Chairman of APC, dumped Ganduje alongside thousands of his supporters for the G-7 group of the party at a time the Ganduje-led party leadership under Prince Abdullahi Abbas is struggling with litigation to retain the party’s structure.
Solacebase reports that two court judgement from an FCT High Court have validated the Senator Ibrahim Shekarau faction of the APC in Kano as it voided the wards and local government congresses conducted by the Abdullahi Ganduje group.
The Shekarau faction parallel congress produced Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago as state party chairman while Ganduje’s group produced Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas.
Speaking on his rationale to abandon his boss, the former vice-chairman of Nassarawa council, on Tuesday, told journalists that his resolve was based on conviction and success recorded by Senator representing Kano North, Barau Jibrin, presently aiming for the state’s gubernatorial seat.
Shehu, who lamented unfair treatment on him and his supporters, regretted that despite the large majority of APC members in Nassarawa Council, the constituency continued to struggle for recognition under Ganduje’s anointed APC leadership.
He said: “We have resolved to renew support for Senator Barau Jibril in the next general election because we find in him true leadership and the credibility is not in doubt. Let me also tell you that we are not alone in this journey.

“Many advisers and top politicians are more inclined to the credible party leadership provided by Danzago and we are at home with the aspiration of Senator Barau Jibrin. Senator Barau Jibrin is a credible and reliable candidate who is accepted by all. He is not imposed on Kano people, rather it is the people themselves that want to impose him.”
The latest defection of Shehu came when the Commissioner for Local Government and strong confidant of the Governor Sule Garo, led 44 chairmen of councils in the state on special homage to opposition leader and founder of Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at his Miller road mansion.
Although the commissioner declared that homage to Kwankwaso was purely to condole the former governor on the recent passage of his younger brother, political analysts believed the visit is strategic to reconciliation move between Ganduje and Kwankwaso.
The two political giants have publicly shown cause to resolve their political grudges sequel to the recent court judgment that invalidated Ganduje-led APC congresses in Kano in favour of Shekarau’s faction.
Unconfirmed sources said that Ganduje may settle with Kwankwaso if other options finally favour Shekarau-led APC, thereby sacrificing Abdullahi Abbas and other staunch political enemies of Kwankwaso.
