Emirship Tussle: Arewa initiative enjoins deposed monarch, Ado Bayero to leave Kano for peace

The Arewa Social Contract Initiative has called on the deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, to leave the state in order to maintain peace in the state.

This appeal was made by the National Chairperson of the association, Comrade Sani M. Darma, on Sunday at a news conference in Kano.

Darma stated that Bayero’s return to Kano and attempt to reclaim his position would only create tension, chaos, and crisis in the state.

He added that even if Bayero wants to reclaim his throne, he should stay in another state and follow the due process.

“It is unfortunate that after the dethronement of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and after he accepted the dethronement, relocated, and vacated all his belongings, some people from the federal government forced him to come back to claim his position. Even if he wants to do so, he should have done it from another state. Coming to Kano State and claiming that position signifies that he is interested in bringing chaos and crisis to Kano,” Darma said.

“This is unacceptable. We cannot accept this. Bayero was a victim, as the former Emir of Kano State, Alhaji Sanusi, was dethroned, and he was given the position. The former emir quickly left Kano for peace to reign. However, Bayero is not replicating this.”

Darma explained that this situation necessitated the press conference. “We are strongly, 100% in support of the new Emir, Alhaji Sunusi Lamido Sunusi, because the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, promised during his campaign to bring back Sanusi. This is one of his campaign promises that he is fulfilling.”

“The people of Kano were happy about this promise, and they voted for him. It was a long-awaited decision, and now that it has happened, people are still happy. This shows that the people of Kano support this decision. We stand with the people of Kano and the people of Arewa.”

“Our strong advice to the dethroned Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, is to quickly vacate Kano State. Even if he intends to claim his right, he should leave Kano. Whatever may come later, he should take it in good faith, accept it as the will of God, leave Kano State, and congratulate the new Emir of Kano State, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.”
