”Arrest of Salihu Tanko Yakasai is to serve the interest of political elites” – Lawyer alleges
A Kano based lawyer, Barrister S. S Umar, has described the arrest of former aide of the State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as a move to serve the interest of political elites in the state.
Barr. S. S Umar said that the statement that led to the arrest of Salihu Tanko Yakasai, had been previously said by many prominent Nigerians without reactions from the Department of State Services.
“The arrest is illegal, lack vision and has portrayed how directionless the DSS is,it is highly unfortunate that we still have such problems in Nigeria.”
Solacebase reports that Salihu Tanko Yakasai was arrested last Friday by the DSS over comments considered critical of the Buhari led administration on kidnapping and banditry especially the abduction of Jangebe schoolgirls in Zamfara state.
The former aide to the governor was however released on Monday night.

Umar lamented that this has indicated that Nigeria is fast moving into anarchy if a citizen cannot publically express his personal opinion.
Responding to the DSS statement that Tanko Yakasai is being investigated beyond his social media comment, the lawyer noted that, “they should have let the public know the reason behind the arrest.”
He argued that the DSS should by now bury their head in shame, for arresting a law abiding citizen, instead of focusing their attention on bandits and kidnappers that are killing innocent citizens almost every day.
