Bayero University Set To Acquire TV License-VC

Bayero University Kano is currently pursuing a television license from National Broadcasting Commission NBC, with a view to enhance information dissemination and quality of teaching mass communication

The University Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello made this known on Tuesday at the commencement of the staggered university’s 34^th convocation from five faculties, consisting nine hundred and thirty two students of 2016/2017 academic sessions.

The vice chancellor also said the ultra modern Radio and Television equipment procured from the United Kingdom for faculty of Communications have arrived the country and the civil work to install them is currently on going.

“We have been informed that apart from University of Lagos that has acquired TV license, we are close to fulfilling the requirement to acquiring our own,” said the VC.

Professor Yahuza Bello then urged the graduating students to be good ambassadors of the University and ensure applying what they have learnt in a positive way.

“The certificate you have acquired is on learning and in character hence ensure to be good ambassadors of the university wherever you find yourselves,” said Yahuza Bello.

Five faculties including Life sciences, Physical Sciences, Computer Sciences and information Technology, Earth and Environmental Sciences and Faculty of communications are the first to graduate their students today.

While 22 graduates distinguished themselves with first class degrees and a female student Rahama Habibu Rabi’u who had 4.97 CGPA won the overall vice chancellor award.

Solacebase reports that the staggered convocation will continue tomorrow Wednesday with Faculty of Law, Engineering, Agriculture, Arts and Islamic Studies, Dentistry and Clinical Sciences and ends on Saturday with award of Higher Degrees and prizes.

Also a convocation lecture is scheduled for Friday with a topic – Leadership , Security, Democracy and Development Challenges in Africa : Reflections by the university Pro- Chancellor and Chairman Bayero University Governing Council Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari.
