President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the re-worked Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law.
The signing ceremony took place at the presidential villa, on Friday in the presence of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, SGF, Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and others.
Solacebase reports that the signing took place at 12.25pm.
President Buhari said the signed document came with a great deal of improvement as It will “engender transparency to our electoral process.”

Buhari, however, asked the National Assembly to rework on the provisions that barred political appointees from electoral contest so that it could be in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This comes barely a week to the expiration of the window the President has to take a decision on the proposed legislation, as required by the Nigerian Constitution.
