BUK promotes 38 senior lecturers to professors, 51 others to associates

The Bayero University, Kano, BUK has approved the promotion of 38 senior academics to the rank of professors and fifty-one others associate professors respectively.

SOLACEBASE reports that the Appointment and Promotions Committee of the university chaired by the Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas approved the promotion at its 192nd meeting held on Wednesday, 20th September 2023.

According to a statement signed on Friday by the Acting Registrar, Amina Umar Abdullahi said amongst the new Professors include veteran Journalist and former Editor, New Nigerian Newspapers, Dr. Gausu Ahmad, the Head Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Mainasara Yakubu Kurfi and Dr. Mannir Abdullahi Kamba as Professors of Media Studies, Mass Communication and Library and Information Sciences respectively.

Others include Dr Hajara Umar Sanda (Professor of Media Studies), Dr Maikano Madaki (Professor of Sociology, Criminology) Dr Abbas Ja’afar Badakaya (Professor of Mathematics) and Dr Aminu Mohammed Dukku (Professor of Sociology, Criminology).

The statement said the promotions were for 2020; 2021 and 2022 sessions respectively.
