Bayero University, Kano on Monday raised an alarm over frequent encroachment of the university’s land by some residents close to the instituon.
The Deputy Vice-chancellor, Administration of the university, Prof. Adamu Tanko stated this during a news conference held at the university on Monday.
Prof. Adamu Tanko who is also the chairman of the university’s land implementation committee said that the land which was acquired decades ago by the federal government, was adequately compensated by the university at that time.
He noted that all the necessary documents regarding the details of compensation paid to landowners were available to the university.
The deputy vice chancellor said any person who has a contrary view to the cleared payment of compensation should come forward with genuine documents.
The chairman, who expressed dismay over the development, cautioned the general public to avoid illegal land transactions on the university’s land by unaccredited land dealers, saying whoever does so would have himself to blame.
