‘COAS, Kuliya would have made significant impact in the fight against insecurity in Nigeria’-Barr. Kuliya

Although the death of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and other senior Army officers and personnel was well-conceived as a supreme price to the fatherland, the dexterity demonstrated by the gallant officers when they were still fully in control of the commands would have made a significant impact in the fight against insurgency in the country.

The late Chief of Army Staff alongside ten other senior military officers and personnel were involved in the last Friday military plane crash at Kaduna airport, killing all on board.

Former Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Kano, Barr. Maliki Kuliya who made the assertion on the incident regretted that the military officers died when their passion to end the protracted insecurity ravaging the country was at its peak.

Barr. Kuliya who was the immediate senior brother to late Chief of Military Intelligence Brigadier General Abdulrahman Kuliya described the death of his sibling as a major loss to the nation and painful exit of a humble fellow.

Brigadier Kuliya was the son of former Chief Imam of Kano state, Alh. Idris Kuliya and one of the 20 children left behind by their late father.

Although the former AG pointed out that the former Chief of Military Intelligence was among several military officers who had paid supreme prize in the fight against insurgency, he urged the government to invest significantly in the Nigeria Army to end the internal security challenges bedevilling the country.

Barr. Kuliya who was confident in the ability of the Army to decimate the terrorists and all forms of criminalities in the country is optimistic that the death would rather redouble the strength of the military to further dissipate the criminal elements in the country.

Speaking on the personality of his younger brother, Barrister Kuliya said late Abdulrahman was a bridge builder, tolerant and religious fellow whose position in the family will remain vacuous.

“ He was a disciplined fellow right from his youthful age. Growing up in the family was interesting because he’s tolerant and accommodating to everyone in the family.

“He was a bridge builder and complete family man. He was quite a religious and upright fellow and he was a reliable one for that matter. Whenever there was an issue or matter of concern in the family, he was always there and available for everybody. That is why death is really painful.

“Although we had not spoken for a couple of months before his death, in fact since he was appointed Chief of military intelligence, we have not met but I remembered I called him and prayed for him wishing him all the best in the service to the fatherland.

“It is such a pity the incident came at a moment like this because Abdulrahman would have made a significant impact in the fight against insecurity in the country.

On what the family would never forget about late Abdulrahman, Kuliya said further, “What I and the family will not forget about Abdulrahman was the generosity of our brother that you cannot take away from him.

“He would forever be remembered for that. We would miss his wise counsel. We are 20 siblings left behind by our father, 10 males and 10 females. We just lost one of us, late Abdulrahman was in the middle.

“Although it is a painful loss, we don’t but who do we blame. That is how God destined the journey that is our believe. We just have to come together as one united family that we are to fill Abdulrahman’s vacuum in the family”.

He continued: “Nigeria has many competent, reliable and professional personnel in the Nigeria Army to sustain the fight left behind by the senior officers who died in the plane crash, including the Chief of Army staff and our own Abdulrahman.

“I have always believed that Nigerian Army is one of the strongest and best forces in Africa and I trust that the government will make use of this opportunity in the appointment of new officers that will take us to the next level.

“ Our message to the Nigerian government is to continue to support the Nigerian Army with adequate resources to end the insurgency in the land. We all know the issue of security is everyone’s responsibility.

“The officers have sacrificed their lives for the country and for the love of the country. We expect the government and people not to let them down in the fight for the protection of territorial integrity”. Barr. Kuliya noted.
