Court Adjourns Kano Elders Suit Against Ganduje Till January

A Kano High Court presided by Justice Nura Sagir has declined an exparte order seeking to restrain the state Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over the state emirate council law of 2019.

The suit filed by Kano elders led by Bashir Tofa is seeking an order of the court to prevent Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from executing the newly assented law on Kano State Emirate Council of  2019.

Among the plaintiffs in the suit are former Speaker, House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’abba, Prof. Auwalu Hamisu Yadudu, and 17 other.

In the prayers of the plaintiffs, the court was asked to grant the order as the defendants in the suit are trying with the creation of new emirates to distort the customs and tradition of Kano of centuries with the action.

Solacebase reports that the defendants in the suit include, Kano State Governor, Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, Kano House of Assembly and the State Attorney General

Justice Nura Sagir while declining the plaintiffs’ prayers asked them to file all processes of the substantive suit and served on the defendants and adjourned the matter to January 10th 2020.
