Court adjourns trial of ex-Jigawa Gov. Saminu Turaki
The Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, has adjourned the trial of former Jigawa State governor, Senator Ibrahim Saminu Turaki and 4 others over alleged N36 billion corruption charges to March 31, 2022.
Solacebase reports that Senator Ibrahim Saminu Turaki and 4 others are standing trial on a 32-count charge of alleged misappropriation of N36 billion. The trial was suspended 14 years ago.
The matter which was initially slated for February 24 and 25 for the continuation of hearing of the case was also adjourned to March due to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failure to ensure service on the second , third and fourth defendants in the suit.
Also the commission pleaded with the court that it was not ready for the case.

Asking for adjournment, EFCC Counsel, Barr. O. A . Atolagbe said that the witnesses were not in Court, hence the request.
However, Counsel to Saminu Turaki, Barr. Saidu Muhammad Tudun-wada though did not object to the application for adjournment but rather asked for cost of N500,000 due to failure of the prosecution to inform him in good time as they are ready for the case.
In his ruling on the application, the presiding judge, Justice Hassan Dikko granted the adjournment application and ordered a cost of N200,000 against the prosecuting Counsel.
