The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked Abubakar Suleiman, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
A three-man panel ordered a rerun in Ningi Central Constituency, which the speaker represents, on Friday.
The panel stated that the election would be held in 10 polling units of the constituency.

Suleiman, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won the March 18 elections with 16, 866 votes, while Khalid Abdulmalik-Ningi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came behind him with 15, 065.

Abdulmalik-Ningi first challenged the election outcome at the tribunal, but his petition was dismissed. His move was, however, successful in the Appeal Court.
Meanwhile, Abubakar Suleiman, in a statement by his spokesperson, Abdul Burra, described the judgment as a minor political setback which is not new to politics.
