Court orders police to investigate KNUPDA, KSIP, Managing Directors

A Kano State Chief Magistrate Court has ordered the Commissioner of Police to investigate Managing Directors of Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA) and Kano State Investment and Property (KSIP), Alhaji  Abdulwahab Suleiman and Dr Jibrilla Muhammad, respectively, over allegations of theft, criminal trespass and mischief against them by 188 shop owners of the Kano Bompai New Market.

The order was issued by Chief Magistrate  Court, Halima Aliyu Nasir on Tuesday, October 18th, 2022, sequel to a written complaint made pursuant to various section of Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Kano state, by plaintiffs in a suit against the duo.

SOLACEBASE reports that Counsel to the complaints, Abba Hikima, prayed the court to take cognizance of the offences allegedly committed by the two defendants, managing directors, whom he said have conspired to perpetrate illegality by mischievously demolishing thousands of his clients’ shops and carting away remnants of the construction material like doors and rods which investigation revealed have been sold to a Kano-based company known as Koguna and Sons Nig. Ltd.

Recalls that in a different suit, the Kano State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Sunusi Ma’aji had on the 12th October, 2022 restrained the two Kano State government agencies headed by the Managing Directors from demolishing the shops of the complaints, an order which the Kano government resisted and failed to obey.
