COVID-19: NMA donates PPE to nurses ,midwives in Kano

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), has donated Personal Protective equipment to Nurses and Midwives in Kano as part of the effort to contain COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing journalists at the NMA’s secretariat in Kano, the outgoing Chairman of the association, Dr Sanusi Muhammad Bala on Monday said the gesture was part of the activities of the association annual general  Annual Meeting scheduled for the weekend in the state.

Dr Bala said the items would be distributed to all Kano State members of the association of Nurses and Midwives, to support the doctors in containing the pandemic.

He noted that medical personnel are at the risk of contracting diseases as the number of infections among doctors and other health workers is alarming, hence the need for self-protection in order to be healthy enough to treat patients.

Receiving the items, the public relations officer of NANM in Kano, Ahmad Hamzat, expressed appreciation over the gesture, promising to judiciously utilize the items

The items donated include facemasks, protective glasses, clothes among others.

Solacebase reports that new executives of the NMA in Kano would be elected on Saturday, July,18.

The AGM and election would hold via Zoom, to prevent gathering, in line with COVID-19 health protocol.
