COVID-19 Palliatives: Kano Anti-Graft Agency warns against illegal diversion

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission view with great concern the number of complaints being received on the diversion of COVID-19 Palliatives by some officials involved in the management/distribution of the materials most recently against some traditional title holders at the local level.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Commission Director Special Assignment Usman Bello on Wednesday and sent to Solacebase.

‘’In view of this ugly trend the Commission’s Executive Chairman Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado wishes to emphasized that, the palliatives is meant for the poorest of the poor and anyone found to have diverted any item no matter the size or number for his personal or political gain shall be prosecuted in accordance with the relevant Laws, ‘’said the statement.

“We have promised to deal with any issue of distribution of palliative where I made a promise that even a teaspoon of sugar will see us going to the court and that is exactly what we are doing”.

According to the statement, the commission, therefore, emphasized that, all those involved in the management/distribution of the palliatives should abide by the rules, regulations and procedures set up by the Kano State COVID-19 Fund Raising Committee as the Commission will continue to monitor the exercise until its completion.
