COVID-19: UITH Suspends Senior Consultant Over Alleged Unethical Conduct

The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital on Monday suspended Prof A K Salami as a Senior Consultant in the hospital.

Solacebase gathered that a patient, a returnee from the United Kingdom(UK) and died a day after being admitted at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) which was brought in by the Senior Consultant, Prof. A.K Salami who did not disclose the patient’s travel history.

However, the patient was suspected to have died of COVID-19 as he had the symptoms before he died.

The suspension letter signed by UITH Director of Administration, David S. Odaibo said this is as a result of his unethical conduct in the admission, management and eventual release of the corpse of a suspected COVID -19 patient who died in the hospital on the 3rd of April, 2020.
