CSO writes Gov Yusuf to investigate alleged hidden agenda in AGILE Project

A Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Kungiyar Matasan Kano has appealed to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf to immediately set up an investigative committee to check and unravel some alleged hidden agenda in the World Bank initiative, AGILE Project ongoing in some schools in the state with the intent of correcting the anomaly.

SOLACEBASE reports that the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project is a World Bank-assisted project of the Federal Ministry of Education geared at improving secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls aged between 10 and 20.

In an open letter written to the state government and sent to SOLACEBASE on Wednesday, and signed by the NGO Chairman, Comrade Alhassan Haruna Dambatta, alleged that the AGILE Project, being carried out in Science and Technical Schools in Kano promotes immoral behavior and disrespect to parents and teachers of the schools alike.

According to the statement, the trainees are taught how to be independent with or without the consent or approval of their parents.

‘’The trainees are being brainwashed into believing they have Human Rights from which even their parents or immediate family members cannot challenge or violate,’’ the statement alleged.

‘’They are taught that they possess an inalienable Right to sue anyone including their parents if either of the parents strives to limit their capacity to independence.’’

‘’They are taught that they have the right to move out of classes with or without the consent and approval of their teacher in the class. An issue that has presently become a topic of discussion amongst the Teachers.’’

Sir,

A CALL FOR THE SETTING OF AN INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEE AGAINST WORLD BANK’S INITIATIVE, THE ‘AGILE’ PROJECT CONDUCTED IN OUR SCIENCE AND TECHNICAL SCHOOLS IN KANO STATE.

We write to your exalted office on the above subject matter.

The Adolescent Girl Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) is a World Bank initiative geared towards the selection of Adolescent Children for training and Empowerment by the provisions of the program.

Of recent, we conducted an investigation due to many pouring outcry of parents having their children in some of the Science and Technical Schools and discovered alarming hidden connotations regarding this World Bank’s initiative for Adolescent Children in our secondary schools.

If you can recall, in the past few years ago, equivalent and related programs like Civic Education and Sex Education were clandestinely introduced by the same World Bank into our secondary schools but were later rejected by the people of the State when it was discovered that the programs contains hidden objectives that were not clearly understood by people and the demand for its rejection was aggravated when the World Bank and proponents of such programs couldn’t provide an acceptable explanation to its introduction into the curriculum of our secondary schools.

These and other various reasons were the onus that led this Organization to investigate this newly introduced ‘AGILE’ PROJECT to ascertain the veracity to the claims that it’s meant to teach, train, and empower our Adolescent Children found in various Public Secondary Schools but discovered the followings;

1. We discovered from some of the unengaged Teachers (those that are not part of the project), Students of the Science and Technical schools, and parents alike that, the program is only a Greek gift that promotes immoral behavior and disrespect to parents and teachers of the schools alike.

2. The trainees are taught how to be independent with or without the consent or approval of their parents.

3. The trainees are being brainwashed into believing they have Human Rights from which even their parents or immediate family members cannot challenge or violet.

4. They are taught that they possessed an inalienable Right to sue anyone including their parents if either of the parents strives to limit their capacity to independence.

5. They are taught that, they have Rights to move out of classes with or without the consent and approval of their teacher in the class. An issue that has presently become a topic of discussion amongst the Teachers.

6. They are told that they will benefit from a scholarship to study abroad with or without the consent or approvals of their parents.

7. They are being brainwashed, indoctrinated, and equally warned that they should not tell anyone including their unengaged mates (students that are not part of the project) of their classes and the unengaged Teachers (teachers that are not part of the project), including their parents and relations of what they are being taught in such AGILE classes.

8. They are usually held back for the training after school closing hours, and none of the unengaged teachers or students know about the specifics of what they are being taught in the class, some only discovered from curiosity of their investigation.

9. Engaged teachers and students alike are being paid heavily by the AGILE PROJECT proponents so that they keep their mouths shut.

These and many more of the above mentioned are daily being taught to these girls trainees which from all indications are in contrast to our religious teachings, beliefs, culture, norms, and values.

It’s in view of the above-mentioned, that we call on His. Excellency to set up a panel to investigate this AGILE PROJECT through some of the following;

1. Both the engaged teachers (for Agile project) and the unengaged Teachers (those that are not part of the project) and the engaged students (those students undergoing the training) and those unengaged students ( students that are not part of the training) of these Science and Technical schools should be privately questioned regarding the AGILE PROJECT to ascertain the truth and the level of infiltration on their psychology.

2. Hisbah Board, Ulamas, Youths group and the Emirate council, including psychiatrists should equally be engage as members of the proposed committee so as to ensure that these girl child student’s religious orientation, beliefs, values and psychology have not been tempered with or adulterated by this concept of AGILE PROJECT.

3. Any other related requirements to this, should be incorporated into the investigative committee’s ‘Terms of Reference’.

In view of the above mentioned, we wish to call on His. Excellency to immediately without delay set up a committee to investigate and make necessary recommendations before these Adolescent children, our Children are mislead to astray by this Sheep in a Wolf clothing.

Please note that, the activity of the committee should be centered towards investigating the damage done, left to us, the AGILE PROJECT should be outrightly cancelled.
