Daily Trust reporter wins Humanitarian Journalist award

A Kano based multimedia journalist with Daily Trust Newspaper, Salim Umar Ibrahim, has bagged the 2022 Humanitarian Journalist of the Year at the Security and Emergency Management Award (SAEMA).

SOLACEBASE reports that Mr. Ibrahim, a reporter working with Daily Trust Kano Bureau clinched the excellence award for his notable persistence in humanitarian and security reportage.

The 2022 4th SAEMA Award held on Wednesday, at NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja was organized by Emergency Digest, a publication of Image Merchants Promotion Limited in conjunction with the Center for Crisis Communication (CCC) and Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center (CISLAC).

Over 145 entries were received  for the 2022 SAEMA Awards and excited, Mr Salim, described the award as a motivation that will drive him forward to do more.

“Awards like this will continue to come when we are committed to our job, and in the best interest of humanity. When one is committed, dedicated and with the support of colleagues, and a media platform like Daily Trust, renowned for its honesty, credibility and factually based reports, more awards will come. This is indeed a motivation to do more.

“While glories like this will come, one should see them as motivation and sustaining the tempo be what will define us.”

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Managing Director, Image Merchants Promotion Limited, Yushau A Shuaib said all the finalists are thoroughly deserving not only the nominations but also the awards.

“It was a lot of work via a transparent process before our team of unbiased experts and professionals could select the eventual winners who will go home with the awards plaques.”
