Dala old girls to unveil multi-billion naira skills acquisition center

The Dala Old Girls ALUMNI Association (DOGAA) is prepared to unveil a Multi-billion naira skills acquisition center and DOGAA secretariat to enhance academic excellence at their alma-mata.

SOLACEBASE reports that the foundation laying ceremony of the skill acquisition center slated for Thursday is part of a series of activities scheduled to commemorate DOGAA’s Annual General Meeting and get-together.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday at the premises of Government Girls College, Dala, National President of DOGAA, Hon. Saudatu Sani said the center is intended to build self-reliance and entrepreneurship skills in the students.

The president said the center designed to facilitate a wide range of skill development programs, and equipped with cutting-edge technology will foster innovation and transformation.

Hon. Sani disclosed that beyond the skill acquisition, DOGAA is also prepared to embark on the construction of perimeter fencing to prevent invasion of intruders and ensure the security of the girls.

The National President who highlighted the intervention of DOGAA on the academic development in their alma-mata reminded that the government alone can no longer shower full responsibility in the education system.

“The Old girls over the years have taken it upon themselves as responsibility to support our alma-mata by providing conducive learning environment, enhancing quality teaching and learning, and offering career development to the girls. We have several standing Committees charged with these responsibilities.

“Among the committees are strategy and quality and quality development, student engagement and extra curriculum activities, finance, media and publicity, legal, resource mobilization and security that focus on the safety of students and property.

“DOGAA has also facilitated infrastructural development in the school. We have changed the face of dilapidated classrooms through rehabilitation and renovation of 44 classrooms, built 20 new VIP latrines, provide 5 solar boreholes among other interventions”.

The president of DOGAA said the AGM and foundation laying ceremony of the Skill Acquisition centre is expected to be graced by former first lady of Nigeria, and patron of DOGAA, Her Excellency Haj. Maryam Sani Abacha and Business Mogul Alh. Tajudeen Aminu Dantata who doubles as Chairman DOGAA board of trustees.
