Dino Melaye Hospitalised , After Police Foil Escape Attempt

Senator Dino Melaye has been admitted at the Zanklin Hospital, Abuja, after engaging in a scuffle with policemen who were reportedly taking him to Lokoja, Kogi State, after he was arrested earlier in the day.

The police were allegedly taking him to Kogi State where they planned to parade him before the media along with six suspects for alleged gun running.

Melaye was said to have suddenly jumped out of the police vehicle at Area one Roundabout, Garki, Abuja, while four hefty men believed to be his supporters emerged from nowhere to foil the police move to take him out of the city.

There was pandemonium as the policemen, who were shocked by the audacious act, threatened to shoot the lawmaker and his supporters.

This led to a scuffle during which the lawmaker was allegedly manhandled by the police officer.

Eye witnesses said Melaye sustained injuries during the incident and he was subsequently rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
