Engr. Ramat finally bags hotly contested UN appointment

The International Association of World Peace Advocates IAWPA, an International association with United Nations ECOSOC Special Consultative Status will on 17th December 2020 conferred on the Director-General of the Kano State Metropolitan Agency, Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat of his new position of international Director For African Affairs.

Engr Ramat, a seasoned administrator, Global Peace Advocate and an Eminent Peace Ambassador, assumed the new position which shall be a tenure for three years following the expiration of the tenure of Amb. Elder Jerome Tom Shimbe a one time Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Benue State who incidentally, is from Nigeria also.

With Ramat’s new position, Which is usually reserved for people who have distinguished themselves in their personal endeavours and in the pursuit of global peace and development under the United Nations and its specialised agencies, programs, and departments is billed to speak at the 2021 UN ECOSOC Youth Conference.

The association after receiving names of nominees for the position from five regional blocs in Africa settled for Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat from Kano State, Nigeria.

Those who were nominated for the position includes, Prof. Eunice Mutaki from South Africa, Bishop Martha Ndaba from Cameroon, Amb. Razak Razak from Morocco, Amb. Comfort Ngongoseke from Kenya as well as Nigeria’s Engr. Abdullahi Ramat who is the eventual successful candidate.

A statement from the United Nations headquarters of the association through the International Director Foreign Affairs, Amb. Dr. Toni Titus E which was monitored in Nigeria and made known to newsmen in the country by the International Spokesman of IAWPA

Amb Emmanuel Nkweke, said the decision to settle for Engr. Ramat was as a result of the multiple nominations he got from outstanding members of the association who see him as a personality that can run the affairs of the association efficiently and effectively as to represent them at the UN, AU, ECOWAS and EU for bilateral discussion for world peace.

The statement said  Engr. Ramat garnered lots of field experience in peacebuilding, and peace education and that he can impact positively on the association especially at this point in time when the pursuit of climate justice, gender equality and global peace are imperative.
