The controversy surrounding the appointment of former Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, as the Grand Khalifa of Tijjaniyya Islamic Movement in Nigeria, has been put to rest.
On Sunday, the Emir was officially appointed the Leader of the Tijjaniyya in Nigeria by the Supreme Global Leader of the Sect, Sheik Mahi Niyyas in Senegal after inviting Muhammadu Sanusi there.
Solacebase recalls that the appointment of Muhammadu Sanusi II, on March 13, 2021, following a brief ceremony to that effect in Sokoto during the Tijjaniyya movement National Maulud, generated controversy.
However, in order to formally announce the decision, the Tijaniya leaders invited the former emir to Kaolack, Senegal for the closing ceremony of Ramadan Tafsir on Sunday, where they officially approved his appointment.
