Suspected gunmen on Tuesday morning attacked the Otuoke country home of former President Goodluck Jonathan, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Multiple sources said about three of the gunmen were killed by the soldiers, who foiled their attempt to break into the country home.
One of the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the gunmen came through the river on five speedboats and opened fire on the soldiers.

A statement issued by the former President media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, in Abuja earlier today said the former president was not at his residence during the attack.
According to the statement, “A security post stationed near the Otuoke residence of former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in Bayelsa State was attacked by unknown gunmen early Tuesday morning.
However, the securities were said to have escaped unhurt in the attack, which some community persons are suspecting was “an assassination attempt” on the former president.
