FG will attend to roads affected by flood-Official

The federal government has assured of its readiness to fix all roads affected by flash floods.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Babangida Hussaini (Walin Kazaure) on Tuesday announced this in Abuja.

He stated this while receiving an interim report of- the spot assessment of the Abuja -Lokoja flash flood and the bridge in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, expressing the commitment of the federal government to upgrade critical infrastructure scattered across the country.

The Walin Kazaure explained that the Ministry is conscious of flooding on all our highways especially the Abuja -Lokoja road, as he revealed the flash flood at the weekend was caused by torrential rain.

Commenting on a bridge at Gwaram that was affected by a flood, the Permanent Secretary commended the Jigawa State for prompt response by diverting traffic to an alternative route and commenced repair works on the bridge immediately.

He similarly commended the state government and the stakeholders for their efforts in supporting Mr President’s commitment to road and infrastructure development.

Hussaini assured the Jigawa state government of the ministry’s technical support when needed. He said the professionals in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing are always available to provide technical support to states in all the roads and bridges construction activities.
