The headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Akure, Ondo state was this evening gutted by fire.
The fire which started at about 7.30 pm destroying no fewer than 5,000 card readers packed in a container.
This was confirmed by the commission on its verified Facebook account on Thursday.
Solacebase reports that the incident occurred barely a month to the governorship election in the state scheduled for October 10th.

Similarly, the spokesperson of the commission, Festus Okoye, who is in Ondo State, confirmed the development noting that he is currently at the office with some other staff of the commission trying to contain the fire incident.
