Foundation condemns terror attack on Abuja-Kaduna train

The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has condemned the recent explosive attack on the Abuja-Kaduna bound train services.

A statement issued by the foundation Director-General, Engr. Abubakar Gambo on Friday and sent to Solacebase said the attack which, was clearly an act of terrorism, would have been deadly, considering the thousands of people aboard the train.

Solacebase had reported the explosive attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train on Wednesday night and the same on the rail tracks on Thursday morning.

‘’Considering the strategic economic importance and the huge resources invested in national infrastructures such as railways, we call on the Government to safeguard infrastructural assets against terror attacks and economic saboteurs. Likewise, perpetrators of such heinous acts should be fished out and punished,’’ said the statement.

‘’We further call on communities where national assets and infrastructures are located to assist in protecting these facilities, in addition to providing useful information to the authorities to avert future recurrence.’’

Recall that The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on 22nd of October had directed that Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS)  should resume operations.

Amaechi gave the directive after inspecting repairs on the rail tracks between Rijana and Dutse along the route on Friday.

The minister then assured the public of Federal Government’s commitment to ensure safety of passengers along the route.
