Foundation Educates Students On Choice Of Career In Kano

A non-governmental organization, Panacea Charity Foundation has called for the establishment of effective guidance and counselling department at secondary schools so as to guide and prepare students for the prospective course of studies at tertiary institutions.

Executive Director of the Foundation, Dr Dahir Hashim made the call at a career guidance activities held at Nasiru Ahali Secondary School, Dala local government area of Kano.

He emphasized that lack of adequate guidance of students mislead them to embark on the wrong course of study which is not mostly beneficial to them and the society.

‘’When students are not well guided it doesn’t help their future course of study and in most cases, they end up not completing their training, ‘’said Dr Hashim.

He said the foundation was established to implant reading culture and patriotism among students, organizing career guidance and seminars that will empower young people to realize their potentials.

The Foundation Advisor and Publisher of Solacebase, Abdullateef Abubakar Jos advised the students to be focus, discipline and determine to be successful in any field of their study in the future.

‘’Do not look at yourselves as a second fiddle because you are females. There are a lot of successful professionals and very religious female personalities in Kano, Nigeria and the world at large.’’

In a remark, an ICT expert, Dr Yusuf Sharada challenged the students to develop a reading culture so as to enhance their study.

On her part, the school Principal, Hajia Maryam Aliyu appreciated the foundation for the kind gesture of choosing the school for the program.  

The Foundation subsequently established Reading Club in the school with a donation of books and seedlings for tree planting while Solacebase instituted a prize of N20,000  for winners of the reading competition in the school.
