Fubara swears in nine pro-Wike commissioners, says ‘you were caught in crossfire’

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sworn in nine re-nominated commissioners in the state.

The swearing-in was conducted at the State Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.

The commissioners said to be loyal to the former governor, Nyesom Wike, earlier resigned their appointment in the heat of the political tussle between Wike and the governor.

However, the Rivers State House of Assembly re-screened and re-confirmed the former commissioners as part of the agreements contained in the eight-point agenda following the intervention of President Bola Tinibu in the political feud between Wike and Fubara.

Congratulating the commissioners, Fubara urged them to do what is right for the state.

He said, “I don’t think I have any charge for you. You have already read your charge to uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I urge you to do the right thing. I can see how heavy your hearts are. I don’t blame you. You were caught in the crossfire.”
