Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Friday mourns with Medical professionals the demise of Dr. Shehi Ali Abubakar, Consultant Radiologist with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, who passed away Thursday, in the United States of America after a brief illness.
Ganduje said Dr Abubakar was one of the selected few Doctors who worked assiduously to the realization of Kano Ultra-Modern Specialists Hospitals, Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Giginyu, and Sheikh Isyaka Rabi’u Paediatric Hospital, Zoo Road.

A statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abba Anwar on Friday and obtained by Solacebase said Dr. Shehi, alongside other Medical experts, were in the Committee that developed the global standard framework for the establishment of these hospitals.
‘’He never missed any meetings during the committee’s work. Which signified his unrelenting commitment to his profession and human development,’’ said the statement.
It said the government and people of Kano state, pray for Dr. Shehi Abubakar’s eternal rest
A graduated with MBBS from the University of Maiduguri, in 2001.
Also, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), said the death of Dr. Shehi Abubakar is a loss to the Medical profession, his family and Nigeria at large.
Kano Branch Public Relations Officer of the Association, Dr. Nura Abubakar stated this on Friday in a statement issued and forwarded to Solacebase.
It said Dr. Shehi Abubakar who was a former Chairman of the association committed his knowledge and wisdom to serve humanity and development of the health sector during his lifetime.
It noted that Dr. Shehi was an activist, a Medical Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and Radiologist per excellence.

Shehi Ali Abubakar graduated with MBBS from University of Maiduguri, in 2001and had his National Youth Service Corps with Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Zaria, Kaduna State as a Medical Officer in 2003-2004
He worked as a Medical Officer, General Out-Patient Department, NNPC Industrial Clinic, Kaduna from 2004-2007.
Similarly, he joined Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for his residency as a Registrar in 2007-2009. While he became Senior Registrar, Department of Radiology, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, from 2009-2013.
Dr. Shehi Ali Abubakar was a Lecturer, Department of Radiology, Bayero University/ Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano State in 2012. A Level coordinator, Radiography in 2014 and Level coordinator, Physiotherapy in 2015.
He became a Consultant Neuroradiologist, 2016.
He is survived with a wife and two children
