Gombe State government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Billiri local government area following the eruption of violence in Billiri town, which has degenerated into a security threat to both lives and property.

The curfew directive was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Secretary to the state government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.

Solacebase reports that over the few days, protests have continued in parts of the local government over the appointment of a new Mai Tangle in Tangale Chiefdom.

Although the government is yet to make an announcement of a new Mai Tangle, the people are suspecting foul play, hence the protest, according to reports.
