ICAN Signs MOU With Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) on Friday  signed a Mutual Cooperation Agreement (MCA) with Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano  under the ICAN Mutual Cooperation Agreement with Tertiary Institutions (MCATI)

ICAN President Isma’ila Muhammadu Zakari  said the agreement is aimed at deepening the standards of learning and dissemination of knowledge of Accountancy in Nigerian tertiary institutions for the betterment of Nigeria

Isma’ila Muhammadu Zakari  said the benefit of high quality Accountancy education to Nigeria cannot be quantified nor can they be overstated.

He said the Memorandum of Understanding is essentially a collaboration between ICAN and Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano wherein ICAN syllabus for the institute qualifying professional examinations will be integrated with that of the  University’s NUC approved curriculum for undergraduate accounting program.

“The Mutual Cooperation Agreement requires that undergraduate accounting students will study using the integrated ICAN/NUC Approved Accounting Curriculum and those who graduate from the Accounting Department of YMS University would be granted 11 subject exemptions which is the highestnumber of exemptions granted to any ICAN students as against seven 7 subjects exemption granted to students whose universities are under the normal ICAN accreditation scheme,” said ICAN President.

He said that represents full exemptions from Foundation and Skills levels of  ICAN Professional Examinations.

Solacebase reports that Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano Vice Chancellor Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa said the signing of the MOU will enhance learning of Accounting as a Course in the field of study in the Institution while appreciating donation of teaching materials including books and Computers to the University by the professional body
