The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday announced the registration of 23 new political parties.
The commission invited chairmen and secretaries of the party to pick up their certificates at its headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
With this, registered political parties in Nigeria stood at 91.
INEC has also extended the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise by two weeks.
The commission had said it would suspend the exercise on August 17 until after the 2019 general election.
