Insecurity: Cleric urges Katsina residents to support Hisbah fight against social vices

A Katsina-based Islamic cleric, Shiekh Nura Yar’adua-Assalafy, has urged residents of the state to support the Hisbah Board to fight against social vices in the state.

Yar’adua-Assalafy made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Katsina.

Hisbah Board is a religious police responsible for the enforcement of Shari’a in Katsina and other parts of Northern Nigeria.

He said that Hisbah was established to assist in ensuring proper upbringing of children and curb social vices in the society.

“So, we should have the fear of Allah to give it all the necessary support, cooperation, and useful advice to enable it to carry out its duties effectively.

“May Allah guide those who don’t wish good for it. We are praying to Allah to give its leaders strength and wisdom in discharging their mandate successfully,” he said

He said that Hisbah is not politics and it is for the religion and the people of the state.

“It is for you, it has come to support in sanitising the society from immorality and evil acts,” he said.

The cleric said that what Hisbah is doing is for the interest of the state and its people.

He said that fighting social vices would also go a long way to reduce all forms of criminal activities bedeviling the state.
