JUST IN: Aisha Lemu Dies At 79

The founder of Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) Hajia Aisha Lemu is dead.

According to a statement issued by her son Nuruddeen, Hajia Aisha died on Saturday after a brief illness at 79.

Hajiya Bridget Aisha Lemu, a British-born author and religious educator converted  to Islam in 1961

She established  FOMWAN in 1985 with other Muslim women and was elected as its first national Amirah for four years.

Solacebase recalled that Aisha Lemu contributed immensely to the development of Islam, through her numerous publications and other Da’awa activities.
