JUST IN: Court Nullifies President Buhari’s Aide Election

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano on Tuesday nullify the candidature of APC Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada in the forthcoming general elections.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Sa’adatu Ibrahim in a ruling said the primary election that produced Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada was faulty.

According to evidence tendered by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the security agents indicated that the results of the primaries favoured Mukhtar Ishaq Yakasai as the aspirant with the highest vote scored. Hence should have been declared winner of the election.

Justice Sa’adatu Ibrahim ordered the Indepemdent National Electoral Commission to recognize Mukhtar Ishaq Yakasai as the duly elected APC candidate Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the general election.

Solacebase recalled that  Mukhtar Ishaq Yakasai , a former Chairman of Kano Municipal Council instituted the case against Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, INEC and APC on the ground that he was the person duly elected at the APC primary election held last year.

Mukhtar Ishaq Yakasai was recently appointed a commissioner by Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Reacting to the judgement, Counsel to the Plaintiff, Barrister Ibrahim Waru expressed happiness commending the judgement.

However , Counsel to Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, Barrister Nuraini Jimoh said he would need to discuss with his client on next line of action which may be to appeal the judgment. in the suit.
