JUST IN: Kano SSG returns from medical vacation in Saudi Arabia

By Ahmed Muhammed

The Secretary to the Kano state government (SSG) Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, has returned home from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday after a month-long medical vacation.

Kano state government had on December 7th approved the appointment of Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, as acting Secretary to the State Government, SSG, pending the return of Dr. Baffa Bichi from a medical trip.

The action fueled speculation of schism and infighting in the 7-month-old administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf in Kano.

But the governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf at a ceremony recently cleared the air thus: “Because we have appointed the State Head of Service as acting SSG, does not mean we sacked Bichi, we cannot allow the position to be vacant because of its sensitive nature”.

Yusuf had explained, “I personally overheard some persons speaking with full authority in the local Radio Programs that we have exchanged deadly blow’s between myself and the SSG”.

He revealed that “You, know some people’s who are jobless and see politics as their sources of living always tried to create rumours to create unnecessary tension, but this time they have failed woefully”.

The Governor had assured that, the “SSG is recuperating, and as soon as he returns he will take charge his position and continue where he stopped.”

He, however, made it clear that Bichi’s job is waiting for him , and want to assure all that he is still in charge.

Baffa’s return came at a time uncertainty pervades the entire state following likely supreme court decision on the contentious Kano governorship tussle in a couple of days from now.

Looking fresh, and agile, Bichi was welcomed to the ancient city of Kano at Aminu  Kano International Airport on Tuesday afternoon by family, friends, well wishers, and retinue of aids.

However, it was not clear whether the returning top government official will resume his duty post immediately as assured by his principal while away.

However, a source close to the emerging development told SOLACEBASE that Dr. Bichi,  a key figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party will likely take a rest, then fly to Abuja to join other stalwarts waiting for Supreme Court judgment.
