JUST IN: Ramadan Commences Tomorrow As Crescent Sighted In Sokoto, Kebbi, Yobe

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, has said the crescent of the lunar month of Ramadan has been sighted across some states in Nigeria.

The Secretary-General of the NSCIA, Prof.  Ishaq Oloyede, confirmed the sighting of the new moon of Ramadan in some states in Nigeria on Sunday.

Prof. Oloyede said the formal announcement of the commencement of 2019 Ramadan fast will be made later tonight by His Eminence, Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar.

Saudi Arabia  had earlier on Sunday announced the sighting of the crescent, saying it was confirmed by a team of astronomy observers in Saudi Arabia’s Hautat Sudair, a small village located at an intersection between Riyadh, Sudair and Qassim, 140 km north of the capital Riyadh.
