JUST IN: Salami led panel recommends sacking of Magu

Justice Ayo Salami led panel has recommended the sacking of Ibrahim Magu, as the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Solacebase can reports.

This was part of the recommendation of the panel report submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, at the presidential villa Abuja.

The panel also recommended that the president appoint the new EFCC chairman other than a core staff should be in transitional capacity for two years during which period arrangement could be made for an appointment of any of the core EFCC staff who has been commended by National Crime Agency UK and other law enforcement for their professionalism.

It advised President Muhammadu Buhari to look outside the police force in appointing the next chairman.

The panel pointed out that at the moment 970 policemen ( 114 drivers, 641Mobile Policemen and 215 operatives) are on secondment in the EFCC, hence an exit plan for the disengagement of the policemen and other personnel within two years from now should be considered.
