Kano anti-corruption probes N150m alleged fraud at state Metropolitan Agency

Kano State Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission is already investigating an alleged N150m misappropriation at the State Metropolitan Agency.

Solacebase had reported how the agency Director of Administration General Services alleged the Director-General, Engr Abdullahi Garba Ramat misappropriate funds and using his personal company as a contractor.

Although the agency Director-General had earlier filed a complaint against the Director of Administration General Services for unlawful change of banks signatories of the organization and issuing instructions to staff as acting DG of the agency after he won APC Chairmanship ticket of Ungogo local government though he is yet to resign his appointment.

A source told Solacebase on Saturday that since receiving the complaints the commission set machinery of investigation in motion to unravel the whole situation.

The source said annually the agency receive over N150m to ensure there is illumination with all the street lights within the metropolis.

‘’ Last Thursday and Friday night the commission team went round the city only to discover that less than 30 percent of the street lights were working. Most of the engines that the agency claimed to have repaired are in bad shape, ‘’said the source.

According to the alleged fraud discovery, the commission has summoned the Director of the Agency, Director of Administration General Services, Director of Operations, Accountant and the Store Officer to further investigation on Monday.

‘’Honestly, there is a possibility that they may be arraigned in court immediately after investigation,’’ the source confirmed to Solacebase.
