Kano Anti Graft Commission Recovers N4bn

Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has said it recovered over N4bn with landed property from economic saboteurs in the last four years.

The Commission Chairman, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado announced this while speaking to Journalists in Kano on Monday.

Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado said since his assumption of office the commission has received more than 14,000 complaints from various quarters and so far dispensed with more than 4,000.

Solacebase recalled that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje appointed Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado the agency executive Chairman in June 2015.

‘’The Commission is carrying out its mandate without fear or favour as we have investigated serving political officers and top government officials in the state, ‘’said Rimin Gado.

According to him, there is no iota of truth in the story that the commission has suspended the investigation of alleged financial misappropriation of the Kano Emirate Fund.

‘’ I can rest assure you that the investigation is still ongoing and like I keep saying, we are not teleguided to institute the investigation by anybody,’’ he said.

However, the kano state governor on Monday, forwarded a list of Commissioner nominees to the House of Assembly.

The list includes 20 names of Commissioner nominees.

The list consists of Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, Muktar Ishaq Yakasai, Murtala Sule Garo and Muhammad Tahir Adam (Baba Impossible), Engr. Muazu Magaji, Barrister Ibrahim Muktar, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, Mohammed Garba, Nura Mohammed Dakadai.

Others include Shehu Na’Allah Kura, Dr. Zahara’u Umar, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, Sadiq Aminu Wali, Mohammed Bappa Takai, Kabiru Ado Lakwaya,

The others are, Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, Ibrahim Ahmed Karaye, Mahmoud Muhammad, Muhammad Sunusi Saidu and Barrister Lawan Abdullahi Musa.

Solacebase recalled that the late appointment of commissioners in the cabinet after five months after the governor’s inauguration is raising a lot of dust in the state political arena.

At the plenary of the house on Monday, the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Alhaji Garba Gafasa urged the Commissioner Nominees to appear before the assembly tomorrow, Tuesday for screening.

Meanwhile, the Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Monday, also launched the state government free feeding programme, covering about 6,800 public primary schools across the state.

Speaking during the ceremony held at Kawaji Jigirya Primary School in Nasarawa local government, Gov. Ganduje explained that the school feeding programme was “aimed at enhancing school enrolment, minimizing absenteeism and generally improving the well being of the pupils”.

A statement issued by Director-General, Media and Public Relations, to Kano State Governor, Ameen K. Yassar forwarded to Solacebase on Monday said the programme is a critical component of the administration’s free and compulsory education policy which targets inclusiveness for vulnerable children, girl child education and integration of Qur’anic education schools into mainstream formal education.
