Kano assembly denies planned emirates amendment bill to reinstall Muhammadu Sanusi II

Kano State House of Assembly has denied planned move to dethrone the five Emirs and returned Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano.

SOLACEBASE recalls that an online newspaper and social media had reported on Wednesday that the Assembly is scheduled to revisit the issue of the emirates with the Kano Emirates Amendment bill 2023 to be read by the majority leader, Lawan Hussaini, member representing Dala constituency on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

The paper reported that the plan was for the house to discuss the issue and approved the amendment that will later allow for the removal of the emirs and return of Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano with assent of governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Meanwhile , in a recent interview by NNPP leader and presidential candidate of the party, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso said the administration of governor Abba Kabir Yususf will revisit Muhammadu Sanusi II’s dethronement.

However, addressing journalists on Wednesday after plenary of the House, the majority leader, Lawan Hussaini, described the story as fake news.

Hussaini said there was never a move for him to read such amendment as the issue was never discussed.

‘’Its funny as I read the fake news also and was asked by many people if I am aware of such plan, ‘’the lawmaker said.

He said after the House approved the request of the governor for the appointment of 20 Special Advisers, it adjourned sitting to Monday, June 19th, 2023.

The majority leader said those spreading such rumours were people that does not want peace in the state.
