Kano State Government has declared Friday as public holiday in honour of Leader of the Tijjaniyya Movement in Africa late Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u.
A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information Malam Muhammad Garba and obtained by Solacebase said the holiday is declared to enable Muslims in the state attend the funeral prayer of the deceased which is scheduled to take place on Friday at the Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u Juma’at mosque, Goron Dutse in Kano metropolis at 2:30 pm immediately after Juma”at prayer.
A renowned philanthropist, business mogul and Islamic cleric, Khalifa Sheikh Rabi’u died on Tuesday at a London hospital after a protracted illness.
The statement said arrangement has been concluded to bring the remains of the late Cleric to Kano Thursday tomorrow evening from London.
Solacebase reports that President Muhammadu Buhari in a Condolence message commiserated with Kano people and the entire Muslims over the death of Khalifa Sheikh Rabi’u.
