Kano Free, Compulsory Education : Emir Sanusi Comments On The Policy

The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II has urged states across the country to emulate Kano policy of free and compulsory primary and secondary education for the development of the country
Muhammad Sanusi II congratulates the governor for the initiative, describing it as “…greatest benefit for serving humanity. I believe that, this is genuinely initiated because of the zeal to serve Kano people and humanity in general.”
A statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor Abba Anwar on Friday and obtained by Solacebase said the Emir made the commendation when the governor received, in his office, delegation from the Zenith Bank, that was led by the Regional Head North West, Dr Sani Yahaya, representing the Managing Director, who congratulated the governor for winning his case at the Election Tribunal and promised to partner with Kano in the implementation of free and compulsory education.

It said Emir Sanusi maintained that, “This is exactly what this country needs. We need to place greater interest and commitment towards achieving that. Because education is the bedrock of any society.”

‘’What governor is doing, according to him “…is exemplary, genuine and done in the interest of our societal development. Which other states should copy from His Excellency’s exemplary leadership, ‘’said the statement.

The statement noted that corroborating governor Ganduje’s position that, government and all other stakeholders should put heads together to see that population doesn’t become a liability but an asset, Emir Sanusi backs the position, saying “As rightly being pointed out by His Excellency, the Governor, our population should change from being a liability to an asset.”

It added that while responding to the delegation from Zenith Bank, the governor insisted that there was no shortcut to quality education, “…hence the need to put all hands on deck. As education is necessary, we must do our best to improve it,” he says.

The representative of the MD Zenith Bank, Yahaya said “Zenith Bank is solidly behind His Excellency’s free and compulsory primary secondary education policy.”

“So also the integration of Almajiri system in the state is a welcome development and it is indeed a legacy to be reckoned with. We are proud of you Sir,” he reveals.
