Kano Gov. justifies use of LG funds to construct N27bn underpass as he lays foundation of interchange bridges

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf on Friday laid the foundation of N27bn three-layer interchange bridge at Dan’agundi junction, and clover leaf Overpass bridge at  Tal’udu roundabout all in Kano metropolis.

SOLACEBASE reports that at the foundation laying sites, the governor said the projects were initiated to reduce traffic congestion, ease travel, beautify the city, control pollution, and develop infrastructure in the ancient city.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reiterated the commitments of his administration in infrastructure development in the state and his determination to deliver more dividends of democracy, especially to the downtrodden.

‘’Kano as a mega city deserves massive infrastructural transformation to cater for the need of the over ten million urban dwellers and improve the socio-economic well-being of residents of the city, ‘’the governor said.

He further stated that the 2024 budget already signed into law gives priority to capital projects, taking the lion’s share of 60%.

Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf called on the contractor handling the project to ensure timely completion, adhere to the contract provisions, use of quality materials as the government wouldn’t condone sub-standard work.

He also cleared the air on the financing of the projects saying that it has been the tradition of his predecessors to finance such gigantic projects through the joint- account managed by the State and local governments.

He appealed to the people using the project routes and those close to the sites to exercise patience for the inconveniences the projects might be causing assuring that plans are underway to create alternative routes for easy traffic flow.
